As the waves crashed upon a moonlit beach,
The horseshoe crabs followed one by one.
But powerful foam tossed them onto their backs,
And I couldnt help but pity them.
Most flipped themselves over and laid their eggs,
And returned to the water one by one.
But as I began to turn around,
I noticed that one was still on its back,
Its tail waving madly.
I flipped it over and returned it to the water.
Legs trembling from the icy flood of beach, I watched it.
As the waves crashed upon a moonlit beach,
One last horseshoe crab swam away.
